Evening Teaching: Initiation of Chenrezig Mahamudra

  • Sakya Buddhist Center, Los Angeles 220 Pier Avenue Santa Monica, CA, 90405 United States (map)

An Evening of Compassion and Deep Insight

Join us for a profound evening of Buddhist practice and transmission with Lama Jampa Thaye, as he bestows the Initiation of Chenrezig Mahamudra — one of the most revered meditation practices in Vajrayana Buddhism.

This special event offers an opportunity to connect with the enlightened qualities of Chenrezig (Avalokiteshvara), the embodiment of universal compassion, and to begin or renew the practice of mahamudra, the meditation on the true nature of mind.

What This Initiation Offers

Meditation Authorization

Receiving this initiation gives you the authority to meditate on both Chenrezig and mahamudra, as practiced in the Sakya tradition.

A Renowned Lineage Practice

This initiation is based on the sadhana composed by the great master Ngorchen Konchog Lhundrup, and is cherished for its clarity, depth, and accessibility to practitioners at all levels.

Refuge and Bodhisattva Vow

Lama Jampa will bestow refuge and the bodhisattva vow during the preliminary part of the initiation.

Who Can Attend?

This event is open to anyone with a sincere interest in Buddhist practice. No prior experience or initiation is required.

Whether you’re new to Chenrezig practice or wish to receive the blessing of this initiation again, this evening will offer an inspiring doorway into meditation rooted in compassion and wisdom.

Please arrive a few minutes early to settle in. Registration is encouraged to help us prepare the space.

We look forward to welcoming you to this evening of blessing and practice.
