Supporting Our Veterans

Every year, Dechen LA commemorates Memorial Day through completion of the Murph Challenge to raise money for two veterans charities:

  • American Gold Star Mothers was established in 1928 by Grace Seibold and supports mothers who have lost a son or daughter in the service of their country.

  • ​​​​​​​Fisher House was established in 1993 by Zachary Fisher and is focused on keeping families together during medical care at no charge to the families.

  • We also encourage participants to support the LT Murphy Memorial Scholarship Foundation through the website www.themurphchallenge.com.

In early March we will have a kick-off in person and on-line and provide a training program and tips on how to get ready to complete the Murph. We then arrange bi-weekly check-ins to track progress and complete the Murph on Memorial Day itself.
